Follow ups questions for-Describe a place you visited where

Describe a place you visited where the air was polluted.

1. Is there more pollution now than in the past?
There is currently more air pollution than in the past, primarily due to the continuous opening of new industries without well-planned locations. Strict rules for effluent treatment have not been established, contributing to increased air pollution.

2. In what ways can the air pollution be reduced effectively?
To effectively reduce air pollution, various measures can be implemented. The government should establish stringent rules for effluent treatment and restrict the opening of new industries to designated areas. Both the government and citizens share the responsibility of ensuring compliance with these regulations.

3. Do you think the city is cleaner or dirtier than the countryside? Why?
Cities are dirtier than the countryside mainly because of concentrated industrial development in urban areas. Non-compliance with government regulations by industrialists, inadequate effluent treatment, a higher population leading to increased vehicular traffic, and elevated levels of air and noise pollution contribute to the overall dirtiness of cities compared to the countryside.

4. What can factories and power plants do to reduce pollutants?
Factories and power plants can play a crucial role in reducing pollutants by adhering to government norms, adjusting chimney height according to regulations, and transitioning to alternative energy sources. New industries should prioritize alternative energy from the start, while existing ones can gradually shift to cleaner sources.

5. Do you think many companies have been forced to reduce pollutants?
Many companies have indeed faced pressure to reduce pollutants, but some find loopholes to evade penalties, diminishing the effectiveness of government measures. The imposition of fines sometimes leads companies to view them as a license to continue polluting, highlighting the need for more stringent enforcement.

6. Do you think the wind has any effect on pollution? How?
Wind has a significant impact on pollution by dispersing pollutants. For instance, Chennai, despite a high number of automobiles, experiences less pollution than Delhi due to the sea breeze facilitating the effective dispersal of pollutants. In contrast, Delhi, being landlocked, accumulates pollution as it lacks the natural mechanism of dispersal provided by sea breezes.
