A lot of people believe that since kids these days have so much free time, they should be completing more schoolwork during that time. While it is normal for parents to worry about their children’s academic performance, placing undue pressure on them to study hard and achieve high marks could have unintended consequences. It is important to provide children with engaging leisure activities that will spark their creativity and teach them valuable lessons.
No doubt, schoolwork is important. Studying all day without time for play or nutrition will raise children’s stress levels and adversely affect their future physical and cognitive development. I believe children should engage in activities outside their regular schedule during their free time.
Playing sports in a park or on a playground with other children their own age is one way for kids to do this. This will improve their social skills and teach them how to work well in a team. They can also watch cartoons and spend a few minutes playing educational video games. Moreover, I find it impressive that someone is pursuing a hobby. To do this, a family should be accepting and look for their children’s hidden talents. Not every child, in my opinion, is born with special abilities. Parents, teachers, and other family members have a responsibility to inspire them, and it’s also important to involve them in extracurricular activities like singing, dancing, and drawing. We must acknowledge that an indifferent teenager with strong academic standing is unlikely to have a significant influence on society or advance to a successful career.
Finally, while studying and exam prep are vital for a child’s future, we shouldn’t make them spend all of their time on them. Engaging in a variety of creative, enjoyable, and social activities during their leisure time will enhance their future readiness instead.
