Speaking Part 1- Introduction – Memory

Memory

  1. Why do some people have a better memory while others just don’t?
    • One possible explanation lies in genetics, as some individuals are inherently blessed with a superior memory. However, it is essential to recognize that memory functions akin to a muscle and can be enhanced through various training techniques.
  2. Why do more people rely on cell phones to remember things?
    • The increasing demands of multitasking in today’s busy life have led more individuals to depend on smartphones. These devices offer a convenient means to store to-do lists, important dates, meetings, events, and more, relieving people of the need to rely on their own memory. Even simple directions no longer require memorization, thanks to the ubiquitous map apps on phones.
  3. Are you good at memorizing things?
    • I am not proficient at memorization; instead, I rely on my cellphone to store information. Even my grocery list is saved on the phone to ensure I remember what to buy when I am at the store.
  4. Have you ever forgotten something important?
    • Yes, I missed my doctor’s appointment last month due to forgetting to set a reminder on my phone. As a consequence, I now have to wait another month before I can see my doctor.
