You are working for a company. You need to take some time off work and want to ask your manager about this.
Write a letter to your manager. In your letter:
- explain why you want to take time off work
- give details of the amount of time you need
- suggest how your work could be covered while you are away

I am contacting you regarding the potential to take a 12-day leave of absence from work to finish my thesis and final exams for my University of Manchester Master of Finance degree. Please give me a leave of absence from July 17, 2021, to July 28, 2021.
My thesis, which I have to turn in to my teacher by July 24th, is almost complete. To finish it all and get ready for the impending tests, I need some time. So that I may take a break from work, I’m asking for your permission.
I guarantee that I will consistently monitor my emails, potentially responding to a few of them, and remain accessible for urgent calls from the office. In order to make up for any missed work, I would try to arrive at the office earlier than usual after finishing my exams and returning on Sundays. Ethan is willing to share some of the duties while I’m away, based on our previous conversation.
I recognize that my brief absence might give you and the team some inconvenience, but I must take this leave in order to finish my Master’s degree.
